Real Madrid midfielder, Isco found the back of the net twice as a Spain defeated Italy 4-0 at Real Madrid’s Bernabeu to advance to move towards to the World Cup group stage in Russia next year.
Isco opened the scoring with a well-taken free-kick and then scored the second minutes later as Spain played the game with no out and out striker.
Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata was brought in the second half and he made it 3-o after meeting with a cross from Sergio Ramos.
This was Italy first qualifying game loss since 2006 and they now 3 points behind Spain with a worse goal difference which might send them to the tournament’s playoff.
It is the only the winners of the groups that will qualify for the World Cup in Russia directly, the rest team will have to partake in the playoffs.
David Villa Is Back
Spain was menacing all through the game and they later brought on their record goalscorer David Villa who got his first cap ever since he retired from international football and moved to MLS in 2014.
However, Italy is still second place behind Albania in third place
Italy will be counting on Liechtenstein or Israel to spoil Spain’s party if they are to stand a chance of qualifying directly for the World Cup next year. The Azzurri have been a mainstay in the World Cup for over 2 decades and if they fail to qualify, it will spell doom for them as a team.
