The Spanish Football League President, Javier Tabias, has thrown his weight behind Cristiano Ronaldo following the tax evasion allegation against the Real Madrid forward.
The Real Madrid player is being accused of evading about 14.7 million Euros in taxes by criminal prosecution authorities in Madrid.
The case against Ronaldo is alleged to have been committed four times from 2011 to 2014. When he allegedly diverted the income he made from his image right, which is a deliberate attempt to breach the tax obligation in Spain.
The case has now escalated as Ronaldo had indicated his interest to leave Real Madrid citing this and other related issues as the cause of his decision.
However, he has been backed by the president of the League who revealed to the press that the player is innocent.
” I understand the environment and how professional it can be, but I don’t have any doubt that Ronaldo is innocent.”
“In Spain today, every issue relating to the treasure is always aimed at discovering criminals. From the report I have gotten, I am sure he will be cleared in no time.”
Tabias further revealed that La Liga will be seriously affected if Cristiano decides to leave the League as a result of this case.
“It will be a great loss if we lose Ronaldo and it is something we should avoid. Also the fact that we are growing international means we have to keep the best players and he is one of them.
Heading back to Manchester?
Although Ronaldo has not publicly admitted that he wants to leave Real Madrid, it is believed that the Portuguese captain has become detached from Real Madrid as he feels he is not being appreciated at the club and would like to return to England. No official bid has been made yet from other clubs.
