Cristiano Ronaldo would serve a five games ban following his sending off in the Super Cup clash against Barcelona which they won 3-1.
Ronaldo was handed the standard one match ban for the red card and four extra for shoving the referee
He was first booked for removing his shirt when he scored Madrid’s second goal of the game and for the second for diving in the penalty box.
This means he will not available for the second leg clash on Wednesday. He is expected to appeal the ruling and has 10 days to do so.
However, the ban will not affect the UEFA Champions League games and he is expected to return to action against Real Betis on the 20th of September.
Madrid revealed after the ban was announced that they will appeal the ban as the club believes he didn’t deserve the second yellow card that he diving.
“I am angry that he was sent off because even though it was not a penalty, it was harsh to give him a yellow card.” Zinedine Zidane said in the press conference after the match. ” we will do what we can so he can be available for the second leg on Wednesday.”

Ronaldo only played 24 minutes when he came on in the second half and fired Madrid in front with a thumping shot before mimicking Lionel Messi’s celebration last season.
