The NBA MVP, Russell Westbrook, has received praise from Kevin Durant, his former teammate, NBA legend, Michael Jordan and singer, Taylor Swift.
Michael Jordan sent a congratulatory message to Russell on his Instagram page with a signed note where he wrote that he won the MVP award before he won his first ring and encouraged Russell to keep his head up.
The six-time NBA title winner and owner of Charlotte Hornets won his first NBA MVP title in 1988 before winning his first title in 1991.
Kevin Durant took to his channel on Youtube to congratulate his former teammate. He said:
“Great congrats to that boy, Russell Westbrook on MVP was a created player on 2k all year and went out there, F—in balled out,” Kevin Durant further added. “Gotta respect it!”
The pair had issues after Kevin Durant moved to Golden State Warriors last summer after spending four years in Oklahoma City Thunder and they both avoided each other during the NBA All-star weekend. But Westbrook teammate, Kendrick Perkins, stepped in to broker peace between the two players. Kendrick Perkins revealed that Durant sent a message to Westbrook after he broke the record of Peterson.
Taylor Swift showed love too
Pop star Taylor Swift got in on the act as she recorded a video congratulating Russell Westbrook for his award, which was posted on the official social media handles of Oklahoma City. She made a funny joke about Russell Westbrook writing the song, Shake It Off, before admitting that she has never met the NBA star.
Russell Westbrook has not won the NBA title yet but it does not seem like that is far away if he keeps up with this form.
