N’Golo Kante has been awarded the EA sports Premier League Player of the year after yet another great season with another Premier League championship winning team.
Kante who moved to the premier league champions last summer has had an amazing year at the club and was also named Football Writers Association and PFA player of the year for his contribution to the team’s success this season.
The 26-year-old won the award with most votes from captains of other Premier League, a team of experts and public vote.
Other nominees for this season’s award include Harry Kane, Alexis Sanchez, Eden Hazard, Cesar Azpilicueta, Romelu Lukaku, Dele Alli and Jan Vertonghen.
“It’s a great honour to receive the award for the player of the year and I appreciate everyone who picked me to receive this award,” Kante said to the official website of the Premier League after receiving the award over the weekend.
“I do my best in training, I also try to my best for my teammate who are all very good players and that’s why we won the premier league title twice in spite of the competition from other teams in the league. I’m also very happy that I contributed a few goals to the team and I’m looking forward to more success in the coming future”
Kante was an important part of the Leicester City side that surprised everyone with a premier league title victory last season and was also instrumental in Chelsea’s title win this season. This makes him the second player to win back to back premier league trophies with different Premier League clubs after Mark Schwarzer achieved the same feat with both Chelsea and Leicester City.
N’golo Kante will also take part in the UEFA Champions League for the first time this season with Chelsea as he left Leicester right after their Premier League victory. Thus, depriving himself of that opportunity.
