Ron Howard’s Onscreen Sister, Erin Moran, Has Passed Away

It has been confirmed that on Saturday, Erin Moran passed away at the age of 56. She is known for starring in television shows such as “Happy Days” and “Joanie loves Chachi”.

A surprising death:

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement saying that the Harrison County dispatch received a 911 call referring to an “unresponsive female” on Saturday at around 4:07 p.m. local time. “Upon the arrival of first responders, it was determined that Erin Marie Moran Fleischmann was deceased. An autopsy is pending.”

The cause of death hasn’t been determined yet and the police hasn’t released any further information.

Moran starred in Happy Days. She was cast as Ron Howard’s younger sister, Joanie Cunningham at the tender age of 14 in 1970. She continued playing the role on the series’ spin off “Joanie Loves Chachi” although it only lasted for two seasons in 1982 and 1983.

A flood of love from past co-workers:

Ron Howard’ went on Twitter to express his sadness after the news broke of his TV sister’s death. He wrote: “Such sad sad news. RIP Erin. I’ll always choose to remember you on our show making scenes better, getting laughs and lighting up tv screens.”

Moran also starred in The Love Boat and Murder, She Wrote. Her most recent roles was in the 2010 movie “Not Another B Movie”. She also made an appearance on Celebrity Fit Club in 2008 on VH1.

Another actor who appeared in “Happy Days”, Henry Winkler, also went on to twitter to express his grief for his departed friend. He wrote: “OH Erin… now you will finally have the peace you wanted so badly here on earth. Rest In It serenely now.. too soon.”

Erin Murphy, who was a friend of Erin’s, and best known for playing Tabitha on “Bewitched”, was saddened by the news as she wrote: “So sad to share that my friend Erin Moran has passed away. Rest In Peace, sweet girl.”
